Auto Tech is Morris Countys leading independent service center for BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Land Rover, Lexus, Porsche, as well as many other exotic and luxury makes.
Maintenance

Maintenance is the key to running your vehicle economically over its lifetime. Although it may be tempting to postpone scheduled service and routine maintenance, this can lead to expensive repairs that could have been avoided.
Get to know your vehicle better by reading the owners manual and pay particular attention to the scheduled service section. The manufacturer wants your vehicle to have a long life life and offers the best advice on how to do it.
Beyond, the economic decisions, there is also the issue of safety. Worn out tires, brakes, or a leaky exhaust system can pose a real danger. At Auto Tech, we are familiar with the manufacturers maintenance recommendations, and always take the time to review the vehicle for any safety or operational concerns.
Back to TopCheck Engine Light
Dont panic if the check engine light comes on. If the vehicle seems to be behaving normally, the situation may not be serious, but itshould be investigated. With the modern diagnostics built into todays vehicles, there are literally hundreds of causes that can set the check engine light. Let us check your vehicle and determine what the issue is.
Also, if your vehicle is due for inspection, the NJ DMV will not pass a vehicle with the check engine light on.
The check engine light isnt the only warning light or message that is important. Take a moment the next time you start your vehicle to review all of the lights on the dash — can you identify the meaning of each one? If you cant, review the owners manual for a description of each light. Should an unfamiliar light come on while driving, you will be glad that you did.
Back to TopElectrical
Todays vehicles are made with a bewildering amount of electronics: computers, cabling, relays, fuses, switches, and motors can be found even in the most basic cars. Because of this complexity, electrical issues can be some of the most vexing issues to troubleshoot and repair. This is where experience and training matters most — so whether your vehicle wont start or a headlight is out, let us take on the task.
Back to TopEngine

Get to know your engine by its sound and its feel. Generally, when you notice a change, this is the the first warning that something may be wrong even before the check engine light comes on. If you have noticed something, consider calling us to discuss the issue and see if this is something normal or whether it deserves closer inspection.
Want to run your engine for a long time? Change the oil at least as often as the manufacturer recommends. This is the number one thing you can do to ensure the longevity of your engine. Most people understand that oil is needed to keep the metal surfaces in the engine from wearing out quickly, but did you know that oil also acts as a contaminant collector and helps to cool the engine?
By changing the oil and filter regularly, you are removing old oil that is filled with combustion by-products. These degrade the oils ability to work and accelerate the wear and tear on your engine.
Back to TopExhaust
Exhaust systems do more than just keep your engine quiet. They are now an integral and important part of the vehicles emission control system. This brings us to the catalytic converter, which can be found on all modern cars. Over time, issues with the performance of catalytic converters can arise and replacement can be expensive. Before you undertake any service, please allow us the opportunity to confirm the issue. We can either confirm the problem or determine that the problem lies elsewhere, which may save you from an unneeded repair.
Know that a noisy exhaust may be more than a noisy nuisance. It can pose a safety issue. Dangerous carbon monoxide can enter the vehicles cabin. Fortunately, most muffler repairs are straightforward to repair, so it pays to have these issues addressed sooner rather than later.
Back to TopFuel Delivery
Automobiles have certainly become a lot more sophisticated in the last few years. Simple carburetors are a thing of the past. Todays cars are fuel injected, turbocharged, supercharged high-performance systems that try to squeeze every mile and horsepower out of a gallon of gas. With all of this sophistication under the hood, it is vitally important to have the expertise and tools to diagnose issues. This is especially true for the European performance and luxury makes such as Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Lotus, and Porsche.
We have the equipment and experience to work on these makes as well Hondas and Toyotas. Back to Top
Heat and A/C
Nothing makes a car ride more miserable than not having heat on a cold day or some needed relief on a sweltering ride to the Jersey shore. But did you know that many vehicles run the A/C all year? Even in the dead of winter, the A/C unit is very useful for taking the moisture out of the air. Yes, this moisture is the fog on your windows that just wont go away no matter how many times you wipe it.
A properly running climate control system can extend the useful (and enjoyable) life of a vehicle. Yes, some failures can be expensive to repair, but that doesnt mean it isnt worth checking out. Problem sensors, blown fuses, clogged condensate lines, and low refrigerant level are simple issues that can seem worse than they are.
Do yourself, and your car a favor, and let us check it for you.
Back to TopSuspension and Tires

Ride quality degrades slowly over time. The wear and tear of todays rough roads and potholes soon takes its toll on every vehicle. Keep in mind that the suspension of the car has two important roles: maintaining control of the vehicle, and providing comfort to the driver and passengers.
The suspension maintains control by keeping the tires in contact with the ground. This simple fact is what allows you to steer, brake and accelerate.
For control and safetys sake, dont wait and let a bothersome ride turn into a dangerous one. Clunks, porpoising, wheel chatter, bump-steer, and uneven tire wear is your vehicles way of telling you that something is wrong.
Play it safe, and let us check out the situation for you.
